Awards 2014

The Saturday 1stXI finished 5th in Premier Division One having won 11 of their 18 games. The highlight of the batting was Ian Booth’s century at Ferndown, as well as his 3 half-centuries – which secured him the Batsman Of The Year Award. Ben Baczala, Francis Kerins, Dan Salmon, Mike Salmon and Matt Thomas also registered half-centuries. The highlight of the bowling was Jem Warner’s two 5 wicket-hauls against Wimborne – which secured him the Bowler Of The Year Award. Rob Hatchard (twice), Booth, Ricky King, Mike Hernandez and Warner have also taken 4 wicket-hauls. Ricky King’s exceptional athleticism and fantastic catching helped him secure the Fielder Of The Year Award.

The Saturday 2ndXI have won 11 of their 16 matches to secure the runners-up ‘spot’ in Division 4 – to secure their third successive promotion. The highlight of the batting was Tim Ives’ 3 half-centuries – which secured him the Batsman Of The Year Award. Mike Nash also recorded 2 half-centuries, Paul Norman and Elliott Baczala both also registered half-centuries. The highlight of the bowling has been Pete Barker’s two 5 wicket-hauls – which helped secure him the Bowler Of The Year Award. Liam Blake also recorded a 5 wicket haul, as well as that, Elliott Baczala, Matt Beard, Dave Morton, Mike Nash and Andy Tillman claimed 4 wicket-hauls. Paul Yerby’s exceptional agility in the field and brilliant catching helped him secure the Fielder Of The Year Award.

The Sunday sides have been decimated this season with the unavailability of the College/University students with the Sunday 2ndXI having to forfeit their place in Division 3. However, there have been some excellent performances in the Sunday 1stXI as they just managed to secure their position in Division One for another season. The highlights of the batting were half-centuries from Ben Baczala, Matt Beard, Ian Booth, Matt Jobi, Steve Kent – who received the Batsman Of The Year Award, Ryan Norman, Matt Thomas, Roger Wilcox and Charlie Wycherley. With regards to the bowling, there were 4 wicket-hauls for Binoy Devasia, Steve Kent, Matt Beard – who won the Bowler Of The Year Award and Terry White. The outstanding fielder was Cameron Beard.The other award presented by Club President – Peter Clark for the Most Improved Player went to Mike Hernandez.

The club would like to thank Pete Dyer for giving up his time to do the ‘scoring’ for the Premier Division side and also to Ron Barker, Hugh Cocke, Matt Forbes, Dave Morton, Roger Wilcox and Tom Yeates for all of their efforts with the preparation of the wicket.
