Latest Matches
The U9s travelled to Parley where they suffered their fist defeat of the season losing narrowly in a low scoring match, despite 2 wickets from Jamie,  Better luck for the U11s who won convincingly against Christchurch. It was a great team performance with everyone part of the victory. 2 wickets fro Alex and Sid and a string of maiden overs kept Christchurch to 254. In reply Swanage were always ahead, Vinnie scoring a rapid 18 before Sid finished the game off with a dominant 39 as they scored 287 winning by 33 runs

The U12s played Div 1 Christchurch the cup and gave a great account of themselves losing narrowly despite the help of 2 wickets from Freddie, 25 from Regan and 28 from Sid who was having a great weekend. The U10s game was rearranged to a later date so an Inter Club match - St Mary's v The Rest of the World (well rest of Purbeck at least) entertained the crowd with the Rest of the World winning by 7 runs. James took 2 wickets and scored 21 runs. U10s India Pope made her debut for the Girl's County U11s on Saturday away to Berkshire.

The U13s continued their improved from with a dominant performance against Wareham in the cup. Early wickets had Wareham on the back foot and with Regan taking 3 and Sid taking 2 Wareham reached 103. Swanage reached their target in the 16th over. Tia with 25, Jacob with 15  and then Regan with 29 not out took Swanage over the line.

The U15s have been similarly improving and also playing a few more games. Tuesday night saw a replay of the week before against Poole but Swanage were much improved as they scored 114 chasing the Poole total of 145. 2 wickets from Benjamin, who also scored 27, and an excellent 35 retired from Harry were the highlights.

Recent Matches

The U9s won a close game against Christchurch. A good bowling performance saw them restrict Christchurch to 257 after Swanage had scored 278 giving the U9s victory by 21 runs. Against Verwood they hit their biggest total so far as they scored an impressive 338 for the loss of only 3 wickets. A great team effort with good individual performances by Thomas Senior who scored 18 and Alex Alcock scoring 21. Alex and Jernimain Barry scoring 49 runs together in their 4 overs. Verwood struggled against some fine bowling ending up on 201. 3 wickets from Thomas, 2 from Harry and 2 overs for no runs and a wicket from Jamie were the highlights. Previously the U9s had travelled to Poole, winning comfortably and scoring an excellent 306. Wickets and runs were shared around with Thomas Senior and Alex Alcock both taking 2 wickets each. The U9s  won their second match of the season as they defeated Winton by 59 runs passing 300 for the second match running.

The U10s, playing their first league hardball match, fielded and bowled brilliantly keeping a strong Bournemouth side to 90 in their 15 overs. They then scored 63 in reply. In their second match the U10s put in a fine display against Poole with Regan (27) and Josh (25) both retiring as Swanage scored 124 - 5. In reply Poole were always behind after great opening spells by Max and Sam. A brilliant one handed catch by Dylan helped out and Swanage ran out winners by 7 runs. Next up were Winton in the cup and the usual close affair this time Winton took the honours as they won by 11 runs. Dylan retiring for the first time. The U10s then travelled to league leaders Wimborne where the highlight in defeat was the dogged defence of Seb Wright who as last man standing kept the out the Wimborne attack for over after over and remained not out at the end

After winning their first match by default as Verwood scratched the U11s were drawn against Div 1 Parley in the cup. Despite a valiant effort they were defeated by the stronger team. They then played a tough Wimborne side, who included both county and district players, but put up a great show in their first ever game as a single age group team having previously relied on players from younger teams. A cancellation against Parley meant a lie in to start half term. The U11s got their second league win when they defeated Poole by 60 runs.

The U12s put in a great team performance as they beat Wimborne. Pick of the bowlers was James Alcock with 2 wickets while with the bat Freddie and Thomas, having both retired for the U13s in their previous match, were at it again both retiring for the second time in 3 days. Away to Winton in their next game they suffered a narrow defeat.

The season started over at Hamworthy and a new experience for many U13s as they played on a grass pitch for the very first time. Many were also playing their first 11 a side match. After a defeat in that game the U13s really picked things up as they gave Poole a great game, losing narrowly at the end. Freddie Long and Tom Wells both retired on 31 and Lily Wood made 23 not out. Their first Monday night game saw another great performance from Swanage. Freddie  hit the first ball of the match for 4 and Swanage never looked back. Brilliant batting by Freddie, Andrew Tia and James saw Swanage post an excellent 141 - 2 off their 18 overs. Early wickets from Regan meant Ellingham were always on the back foot and with Oscar taking his first ever wicket Swanage ran out winners by 69 runs. A good performance in defeat to Bournemouth saw the U13s continue to improve.

The U15s struggled in their first match against Verwood and have suffered from a lack of cricket with the weather  and Ofsted both causing cancellations.

Fund Raising

The kitchen has been buzzing at the youth matches this season with the U10s and U12s playing on Fridays followed by the U9s and U11s on Saturday mornings. The kitchen has already paid for a new bacon grill to replace the one that decided to retire in the middle of Fun Day after 3 years of hard work!!! In addition, new batteries for the much loved Zinger Bails and the shiny new lines on the astro mean we know where to play.

This weekend sees a double home games with both the U9s and U11s at home on Saturday morning where there is always a bacon sandwich waiting to be eaten.

As always a huge thank you to all of you that help with catering at the games which is such a big part of what we do.
