Women and Girls News

The inaugural Dorset Softball League finally got under way for Swanage on Sunday with a trip to Winton - full report below

We have been trying hard to relaunch our Girl's section and so far have had great success especially at the 5 - 11 range. We had over 20 girls at our new U7s session and our U11s session along with the U9s.
Hopefully we will continue to grow over the next few weeks and be able to launch at Swanage Girl's team as well as getting the girls playing alongside the boys in their matches.

Training resumed on Thursday 8th April and is now from 5:45 to 7:15
Attendance has been great but we always looking for new members.

Swanage v Winton - Women's Softball League

Swanage Ladies had their first outing this season, away to Winton, with only 7 players. Winton won the toss & bowled first. Bev & Lou opened & both batted well and were our top scoring pair, getting a handful of boundaries between them. Eden & Holly were up next & faced some erratic bowling that led to lots of wides but as such an inability to score runs. Our 3rd pairing, Jo & Pam, managed to keep the runs at a consistent rate despite facing some quick bowling. Angie & Eden finished off ( Eden batting twice) and were able to keep the score running. Eden's reverse sweep shot impressed Winton & Swanage. Swanage ended on 249

Some tight bowling and fielding kept Winton's run down, with good performances from Lou & Jo (4-1). Angie was able to get a run out off her own bowling. Swanage were ahead until the last 2 overs but were unable to take wickets from Winton's best batting pair. Winton won by 18 runs.

Swanage 249 Winton 267 - Winton won by 18 runs
